A unique 5-day workshop for young students in the age group of 6-12 years has been designed to sensitize children to the environment in which they live through the medium of theatre and storytelling. The children will be appointed “Planet Preservers” in a solemn ceremony wherein they will be imbued with a sense of responsibility towards their planet. They are introduced to the Elements & processes of Nature and various phenomena of nature.

They learn about the Navrasas, and how Nature too has her moods and cycles. Through enactments, they come to understand how pollution and deforestation can lead to natural calamities and disasters. They will understand the importance of gentleness not only towards the planet, but towards each other, through group activities especially designed to inculcate teamwork and trust.

They learn through story-telling sessions about how nature has been worshipped since ancient times in various cultures, and tribal cultures that live in harmony with nature even today. As they enact the legends of various gods, goddesses and various mythologies and folklore, all of whom derive from and depend on Nature, the children will be acquainted with the principles of conservation and caring for one’s planet.

They will learn how to make paper crafts out of used papers and the importance of recycling. On the last day, they will plant a sapling and take a pledge to care for the environment. At the end of the workshop the kids actually put up a play for their parents which they write, direct and produce themselves. The play is recorded and copies of the recording made available to parents as a memory forever.
