Synopsis: What do two people who have nothing left to say to each other, say to each other when they are together? A one-act tragicomedy with three characters…X, a woman…Y, a man…And Z. X and Y are your average pseudo-intellectual couple who one day discover that they have run out of conversation. As they laugh and bicker and try to rediscover the meaning in their meaningless existence, Z enters their lives…Z is the ubiquitous thought-collector who starts setting their thoughts free. And as X and Y start feeding pigeons they suddenly realize they have turned into pigeons themselves... You can’t win…no matter what you say. Or don’t say. But you might as well enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Helpdesk

Synopsis: A hilarious satire on the social-political scenario existing in India today. Helpdesk represents a world in which everyone is entitled to ask for help… Whether you are a mother wanting to sell your son, a radio wanting your antenna amputated, an executive wanting to display your boyfriend in a shop-window, or a newspaper wanting to go tabloid… The only condition, of course, is that the request must be a reasonable one. Raccontini

The Last Supper

Synopsis: The Last Supper is a murder mystery with a comic twist, revolving around 8 people who find themselves invited to a surprise party at a restaurant. As they are trying to make sense of the situation, one of them gets murdered. Then in classic whodunnit style, each of the characters’ motives is revealed and the audience is left guessing as to who the culprit could be. Is it Dr Patel, the retired Gujarati psychiatrist, or Mrs Dsouza the pious old Catholic, or Rahul the joker, or Natasha wreaking her revenge of the nerd, or Nitin the millionaire, or is it one of those The-Steward-Did-It cases?

Staying Alive

Synopsis: A dance drama, with an original soundtrack of recorded monologues and beautifully composed music that gives a contemporary interpretation to a classical base. The theme is the scattered spirit, the individual, the isolated experience of angst, the complete and utter loneliness that visits each and every one of us at some point in our lives – that unnamed emotion that we feel cannot really be expressed in any way other than perhaps the termination of life. Or can it? What is it that keeps us alive...and what is it that keeps us from staying alive.

What If

Synopsis: What if they had met at a different time in their lives? What if they weren’t married? What if they had met when they were younger? No matter what. The end is always the same. Somewhere – all choosing converges to one eventuality. There is only so much free will – and only one destiny. They have to live it. A tragicomic play about a couple who meet always in the same place - Railway platform, on a bench, train about to arrive. The circumstances change, the words change, the attitudes change… but the end is always the same. They cannot help but part.

The Laboratory

Synopsis: Joy Fernandes aspires to be a doctor. However, with a drunkard for a father it seems a distant dream, till her mother, Mary, volunteers for a clinical trial at a pharmaceutical firm, whose CEO is Joy’s paternal uncle Ralph Fernandes. Mary dies of heart failure. Just before Mary’s death, Joy learns of the medication and the clinical trial. Meanwhile, Joy is at a relief camp distributing medicines to tsunami victims. Through her journalist boyfriend Arjun, Joy learns the truth. When she discovers that her mentor and idol Dr. Pereira is behind all this, a disenchanted Joy, who also loses her father (arrested for domestic violence), ends her life. The play emphasizes the importance of and challenges involved in obtaining informed consent in a country where doctors are treated like Gods.

No License Yet scripts are available for special events, fundraisers and amateur and professional performance groups in India and abroad. You can choose from a wide variety of scripts ranging from comedies and murder mysteries to serious dance operas with an originally composed music score!

All shows have been successfully performed around the country, and can be used by fundraising groups, church groups, youth groups, schools (from high school to college age), amateur and professional theater groups, and can also be performed to sold-out audiences anywhere in India or abroad by my performance group, No License Yet.
