THEATRE OF THE JUNGLE...

Saturday January 15, 2011 – 10am-2pm

NCPA Experimental Garden

For children ages 6-12

Cost : Rs 2,500 per child (inclusive of lunch and materials)

This workshop is designed to acquaint children with the treasures of the animal kingdom. The workshop kicks off with a mesmerizing photo presentation of the African wildlife. We then urge the children to ‘go wild’ – that is to become the animals they admire. As they learn to make delightful animal masks, we sensitize children to the unique characteristics that make each specie special, indispensable and vulnerable, and also discuss various species that have either become extinct or are facing extinction. Once all the children have been transformed into mangificent beasts, they set about transforming their surroundings into an African jungle – when all of a sudden they become aware of a threat to their existence… Will they manage to survive or become extinct? The workshop concludes with a guided performance of a short skit that the children perform for their parents, followed by a discussion of animal rights and the importance of preserving animals’ natural habitat.
